Privacy policy

The short version

The tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into them is sent to a server or stored anywhere outside your device. Duit counts page views without cookies, to see which pages are read.

What is collected

• Tool inputs and checklist ticks: the Box 3 estimator, the FIRE calculator and the checklists keep what you entered in your browser's local storage, so it's still there next time. It's never sent anywhere. You can clear it by clearing your browser's site data.
• Share links: if you copy a share link in the FIRE calculator, your inputs are written into that link. Anyone you send it to can see them, and opening the link sends them to the hosting provider, like any web address. The calculator removes them from the address bar once the page has loaded.
• Server logs: Vercel, the hosting provider, may log standard request data (IP address, browser type, page visited) for security and performance. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Fonts

Duit's fonts are served from Duit's own website, not from Google or another font service, so loading a page doesn't share your IP address with a third party.

Cookies and analytics

Duit doesn't set tracking or advertising cookies, and doesn't use Google Analytics.

To see which pages are read, Duit uses Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies. For each page view it records the page, the website you came from, your approximate location (country and city), your browser, your operating system and your type of device. It doesn't store your IP address or follow you to other websites. A visit is recognised for 24 hours at most, then forgotten.

Before a page view is counted, Duit removes everything after the “?” in the web address, so the inputs in a FIRE calculator share link are never sent. See Vercel's page on analytics and privacy.

If Duit ever adds cookies that need your consent, you'll be asked first.

If you follow a link to another website, that website may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.

Referral links

Some links may in future be referral links: if you sign up through one, Duit may earn a fee. Duit doesn't receive personal data about you from those sign-ups, only overall referral numbers. Read the disclosure for how this works.
